At Bearsden Dental Care we offer a variety of treatments to replace missing teeth. Our dentists will discuss the most suitable options available following assessment. For optimal cosmetic results when restoring teeth our dental technician can attend the practice for a consultation with the patient.
Dentures
Dentures are acrylic teeth fused to a plate to replace missing teeth. They can involve single or multiple teeth (a partial denture) or a full set of teeth (a full denture).
There are various types and designs that can be used, such as acrylic, flexible acrylic or chrome. Modern cosmetic dentures incorporate a wide selection of natural looking synthetic teeth to give superior aesthetics.
Bridges
Bridges are used to fill spaces where teeth are missing or have been removed. The remaining tooth or teeth on either side of the space are used to secure a false tooth in this space. Bridges are cemented in the mouth and cannot be removed like dentures.
There are various types and designs that can be used, such as sticky-back or fixed bridges. Modern cosmetic treatment involves the use of all-ceramic bridges that do not contain metal to give superior aesthetics.
Implants
A dental implant is a titanium root that is secured into the jaw to hold a crown, bridge or over-denture. The main advantage of dental implants is that they fill spaces without involving adjacent teeth, and they do not cover the gum around teeth like a partial denture. They are also useful for patients who struggle with full dentures by securing them in place thus preventing gum trauma.
We have a range of implant options available at the practice and work closely with some of the most experienced dental implant surgeons in Scotland and the UK. We also have equipment on site that allows us to restore over 90% of all dental implants placed worldwide.
